For many students, the competitive events are the capstone activity of their academic careers. In addition to the competitions, students immersed themselves in educational workshops, visited an information-packed exhibit hall, and attended motivational keynotes on a broad range of business topics. Justin Miller, who just completed his junior year at Springfield High School, also attended the National Leadership Conference, as he is a state officer of the Future Business Leaders of America in Pennsylvania. Justin is currently serving his second term; he was a VP at Large last academic year (2013-2014), and was recently re-elected as Treasurer for this year (2014-2015).

The best tip for effective time management is to get a head start on the next day’s tasks. Write an agenda for the following day. Create tomorrow’s to-do list for a great finish to a work day. This ensures you can get up and get moving.
You need to pay more attention to deadlines if you find that you are always late. If you know something is looming, you’ll find that you’re behind on all of your tasks. Stay on track and you will be as efficient as you can possibly be.

To solve this problem, the authors suggest that white males be recruited to play a larger role than they now do in diversifying the workplace. Currently, women and minorities typically take on this responsibility. While conceding the approach to be counterintuitive, they cite the success of the United Parcel Service, where the white male CEO serves as the leader of the company’s diversity council. Another approach they said businesses should consider is to simply measure and reward the degree to which people hire and promote individuals who are demographically dissimilar from themselves.
